Korean Register Launches AI-Integrated SeaTrust Software Hub
Korean Register launched an upgraded version of its technical software platform, SeaTrust Software Hub, in early March 2026, introducing an AI-integrated system designed to enhance user accessibility and strengthen customer support across the classification society's suite of technical tools. The platform provides a more intuitive and structured interface for KR's technical software while enabling users to manage the entire workflow — from software downloads and technical inquiries to feedback submission and improvement requests — all within a single integrated platform. AI-driven feedback processing: The key innovation is an AI-driven feedback processing system that analyses user inquiries and automatically directs them to the appropriate KR team, improving response efficiency for the thousands of shipyards, design companies, and shipping operators that rely on KR's technical tools. The AI system was developed using extensive technical resources including engineering documentation, user manuals, email correspondence, and historical feedback records — enabling context-aware responses that improve in speed, accuracy, and quality as inquiry data continues to accumulate. Unified digital hub: The website has been reorganized into a unified digital hub where users can search for and download all KR's technical software solutions in one place. This includes SeaTrust-HullScan, a structural strength assessment software widely used by shipyards and design companies, as well as web-based applications such as the route-specific reduction factor calculator used by container shipping operators for compliance planning. Classification society AI adoption: KR Executive Vice President KIM Daeheon stated the platform will evolve beyond a software platform into "a digital knowledge center where operational experience and technical expertise are systematically accumulated and shared." For ship managers, the significance extends beyond software convenience — when classification societies embed AI into their core technical infrastructure, it signals that AI-driven compliance and engineering workflows are becoming standard industry practice rather than optional innovation. KR's approach — using decades of accumulated technical knowledge to train specialized AI — demonstrates the competitive advantage that domain-specific institutions hold over generic AI solutions in maritime applications.
